About Dakota Designs Photography:

I officially opened in October of 2006, but photography has been a huge part of my life for the past 15 years.  I have been a nature/wildlife photographer for as long as I have had a camera in my hand.  I am always drawn to animals and nature first.  From the moment I was brought home, I was an animal lover and advocate.  I adopted every dog and cat on the block, whether their owners knew it or not!  I considered all the neighborhood pets “mine.”  For this reason, pet photography was a natural choice for me, combining two passions into one.

My main focus at this time is Real Estate Photography.  Because I’m also a nature/wildlife photographer, I also include “pretty” pictures in my real estate photography.  I enjoy photographing the finishing touches that make a house a home.  I’ve discovered that Real Estate photography allows me to have the best of both photography and design worlds.  I love partnering with agents and growing our businesses together.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management from Washington State University and an Associate of Arts in Commercial Photography from the Art Institute of Seattle.

Why the name Dakota Designs Photography:

The company is named after my first Golden Retriever, Chantelle’s King of Dakota, aka Dakota.  He was one of those once in a lifetime dogs that forever changes your outlook on life.  It is in honor of his life and continued presence that I took his namesake for my business.
